Intranet Redesign & Project Management for Enterprise Communications
Overview
I led the redesign of Entergy’s corporate intranet for the Public Affairs team, creating a centralized digital hub that kept employees informed about company news, business accomplishments, and corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives. The goal was to transform a static internal site into an engaging communication platform that encouraged employees to stay connected with the organization’s mission, culture, and community impact.
Working closely with stakeholders and an external SharePoint development team, I translated business requirements into a modern user experience while balancing technical constraints, timelines, and organizational priorities. I led the project from discovery through launch, overseeing UX strategy, project management, stakeholder alignment, and implementation to deliver a scalable communications platform.
Challenge
The existing intranet struggled to keep employees engaged and informed. Information was scattered across multiple sources, updates were difficult to manage, and the platform lacked interactive tools that showcased employee involvement, company initiatives, and organizational achievements. Public Affairs needed a flexible, easy-to-manage solution that could evolve alongside changing communication needs while remaining within SharePoint’s technical framework.
Approach
I partnered with business stakeholders to define priorities, gather requirements, and establish a roadmap that balanced user needs with technical feasibility. Throughout the project, I coordinated cross-functional teams, facilitated client workshops, presented concepts to leadership, and collaborated closely with an external SharePoint development partner to ensure the final experience aligned with both business objectives and platform capabilities.
My responsibilities included:
- UX strategy and information architecture
- Requirements gathering and stakeholder workshops
- Project planning, timelines, and milestone management
- Wireframing and iterative design reviews
- Cross-functional collaboration with developers
- Client presentations and executive communication
- Design handoff and implementation support
- CMS documentation and client training
Key Features
The redesigned intranet introduced a collection of custom SharePoint experiences that made internal communication more engaging and easier to navigate, including:
- Interactive dashboards highlighting volunteer participation and CSR metrics
- Company news and announcements
- Social media monitoring and live content feeds
- Employee directory and staff profile pages
- Embedded video communications
- Custom SharePoint widgets tailored to Public Affairs workflows
- Flexible content management tools for ongoing publishing
Impact
The redesigned intranet provided Public Affairs with a modern communications platform that centralized information, simplified content management, and made it easier for employees to stay informed and connected across the organization.
By combining UX strategy with disciplined project management, I successfully guided the initiative from concept through launch while aligning stakeholders, managing external development, and delivering a solution that the internal team could confidently maintain. I also developed training materials and led CMS workshops, enabling the Public Affairs team to independently manage and expand the platform after launch.
